Fulcrum was founded in 2007 and was initially a Management Consulting company. In 2009 we started to develop a software application to augment the consulting practise and enhance collaboration in meetings and between meetings. Since then our company has pivoted to become a pure software business focused on providing an application for online engagement. Our founders and team members together have skills in organizational development, building great software applications
and business.
Leadership
Amos Michelson is Chairman of three high-tech start-ups and Director of an additional four high-tech companies in the areas of life sciences, energy, and Web 2.0. Mr. Michelson was CEO of Creo, Inc. from June 1995 until Kodak purchased Creo for C$1.2 Billion in May 2005. He is a past member of the Premier’s Technology Council and in 1999 was named Entrepreneur of the Year, along with Dan Gelbart, by Ernst & Young. In 2005, Mr. Michelson was named the “BCTIA Person of the Year”, an award presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the technology industry during the year.
Jim has been developing software for 27 years with product vision, architecture and management responsibilities for the last 15 years. He has held positions with MacDonald Dettwiler, Creo Products and Kodak Graphic Communications. Since university Jim has had parallel careers in outdoor education, mountain guiding and organizational development. Fulcrum combines his passions for software and people in a single product. Dave has an interdisciplinary background in business development, sales, marketing, project management and facilitation. Dave is passionate about group development and communication innovation and has worked in leadership roles in both the non-profit and business sectors. He is a proud new father, loves snobby coffee and plays a little guitar.
Sales
Kevin has an extensive background in youth development and adult leadership.
He has worked in both the non-profit and business sectors. Kevin has a love for group process and is inspired by outcomes that by far exceed the go-it-alone approach. He is a father of two, an avid whitewater kayaker and loves to write songs on the guitar.
Customer Success
Lea leads our Customer Success team, facilitating Thoughtstreams and supporting customers in their facilitations. She has a background in collaboration, research
and technology. She attended a Swedish school of technology for her Master's in Leadership towards Strategic Sustainability where collaboration was an integral part to all learning outcomes. Lea has done project coordination for communities in BC, non-profit organizations and small businesses. She is fascinated by group processes and the application of technology to improve them.
She also loves to travel.
A member of the Customer Success team, Jamie manages and guides customer experiences with Thoughtstream. She has been working with individuals and communities, in both non-profit and government sectors, as a facilitator, counsellor and engagement specialist for 20 years. For the past five years her focus has been the interdisciplinary study of leadership, learning and technology; the foundation of social media and networking. Jamie manages our social media efforts and is the main Thoughtstream blogger.
As a member of the Customer Success team, Véro works closely with customers as a facilitator and guides them in the Thoughtstream process. She has dedicated her heart and energy to creating change in her community and the communities surrounding it for several years. She has a strong passion for change and capacity building. Working towards solutions to complex challenges such as youth homelessness, as well as finding and creating ways to engage and integrate youth and various stakeholders in their community has been at the heart of her work. Véro strongly believes in the power of education through nature and play as well as in the richness of collective intelligence. Mountain biking, gardening, climbing, and being the first to jump in the lake are a few of her favourite hobbies.
A member of the Customer Success team, Jesse works directly with customers coaching them on the software uses and working as a facilitator. He is also our resident Wordpress expert and plays a large role in creating websites to highlight and help interpret the results of Thoughtstream processes. Jesse has over 10 years experience in facilitating groups, specializing in leadership and development with Educo Canada. He is passionate about the learning and growth that comes from participating in group process and has extensive training from the School of Lost Borders. He also love's to ski, climb, bike and just be outside whenever possible.
Communications and Operations
Todd has been a designer for 24 years. He has worked as an entrepreneur as well as for advertising agencies. His skills range from using hot metal type to creating corporate identities to designing online application interfaces. With his classical design training and breadth of experience, he brings added insight to the myriad forms of new digital media.
Alex is an experienced PR and Communications professional with over 10 years experience working with companies and organizations such as Electronic Arts, Air New Zealand Canada, University of British Columbia, Columbia Basin Trust, and Glentel Inc. among others. Passionate about engaged communities, Alex is an active Board Member of the Osprey Community Foundation in Nelson, BC. Alex also sat on the Communications Committee for the Dalai Lama Centre for Peace and Education in Vancouver and led the media relations team for the 2006 visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Alex loves to travel, camp and be outside.
Natalie has a background in digital and social media marketing and a degree in economics from Pomona College in California. She has a passion for innovation, people and new technology and has worked with start-ups in the software industry on digital media strategy and execution for the last three years. Natalie plays recreational tennis and dodgeball and loves any activity that involves the ocean.
Chris is a Systems Analyst and Project Manager with over 12 years experience in Software Support. Chris started his career in Photography and Graphic Design, but a love of technology lead him to the software industry and a role with Creo Products. He has held positions in all levels of technical support, most recently as a Global Support Manager with Kodak Graphic Communications before joining Fulcrum. He is a new Dad and in his free time can be found hiking, riding and skiing on Vancouver's North Shore Mountains.
Product Developement
Brian has worked in software development for 18 years, holding positions at Prism Systems, Nortel Networks, Creo and Kodak. His professional roles have included senior software developer, team lead, project engineer and software architect. These roles provided him with a refined spectrum of skills for effectively leading software development.
Dale has been a software developer for over 15 years, with early career roots in electrical engineering for robotics and industrial automation. He has participated in the development of diverse complex systems from the design stage through to installation, service and support. His experience ranges from robotic exhibits at the Smithsonian Institute, to clean-burning hybrid fuel injection systems, to workflow systems for the printing industry.
Frank has been a software developer for 15+ years. His experience ranges from developing desktop applications, iOS apps, and web applications to kernel and device drivers for embedded devices. He maintains his own digital creations at games.mooflu.com and enjoys tea and chocolate cookies.
Peter has a strong background in web development. For more than 10 years he worked for Swiss companies gaining experience in developing e-commerce shops, building web applications and CMS based portal websites. At Thoughtstream Peter hunts down bugs and develops new features. He is a passionate mountain biker and DIY bike mechanic.
